“This party would be much better if I was wearing crocks.”
Is what is written on the bathroom of the coolest flat ever. This flat is the coolest one in Wellington. Which is the coolest city in New Zealand. There is a swing in the living room, and art all over the walls.
The flat belongs to Ben. He was one of my first couch surfing guests when I lived in Edinburgh Scotland. And even when we moved from Edinburgh to St. Andrews, we still managed to drag him back to Edinburgh fairly often. We had adventures with vegan brunches, autonomist film evenings, and iron hard mountain climbing. So it was great to see him again. His flat is amazing, and so were his flatmates. And the view from the roof was amazing.
We stayed in Wellington for about a week. During which we went to the fringe festival. Wellington fringe is significantly smaller than Winnipeg fringe, but we still saw a few good shows. We also went to see a regular play which was not affiliated with fringe – Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House.”
Wellington: Arty, Musical, Vibrant, Cultured. It is just the town for me.
Best fringe show in Wellington: “Choose you own fringe” – This theatre show was inspired by those “Choose your own adventure books,” the audience were given clickers and through out the show we were given options. There were about 200 different fully scripted options. It was amazing! And such a great idea.
There are so many thing in Wellington that I am looking forward to doing there and experiencing as a resident – not a tourist.
