I absolutely love where I live at the moment. Melbourne is a crazy, cool city, and we live in the beach side suburb of St Kilda. Just a few minutes down the road, in the nearby suburb of Brighton, is a famous Brighton Beach.
Brighton Beach is home to the historical bathing houses. The bathing houses have been around since 1862 and are now protected. However, despite being protected, owners of the beach houses are encouraged to paint the bath houses in bright, creative ways.
I love the beach at Brighton. The water here is calm and shallow, making it a great beach to visit with little ones. And of course the bath houses add a bit of flair and personality to the beach.
Brighton Beach is also the starting point for one of our favourite inner city walks – a 8 km stroll from Brighton Beach or Horseshoe Bay along the beautiful Bayside coastline.
