Many of the young backpackers that I meet have Amsterdam high on their European bucket list. For many of them, the reason that draws them to the city is the…*ahem*…liberal life style.
The city is easily accessible by train and bus as well. When I lived in Denmark as an exchange student, I visited the city twice in 2006 by train. When I lived in Belgium, it was only a half day bus ride to the city.
During my visits in 2006 I had checked off many of the cities cultural attractions. So during my short visit in 2009 I spent the majority of my time just wandering the streets.
Amsterdam is a beautiful city. It’s famous for it’s canals and traditional Dutch architecture, but what made it interesting for me was seeing all that history next to some of the best urban street art in Europe.
