I’ve got a big goal. I want to visit 50 countries before I turn 30. Right now I am at a grand total of 49. I have 5 moths to visit 1 more new country. Achievable. And I have it all booked and paid for and planned already. So unless there is a catastrophe, this goal is in the bag!
But I need more than one goal for 2016, so here are my three travel goals for the year:
Goal #1 : Complete my 50 countries before 30 Quest
So what will country number 50 be? It’s a pretty random one, so I bet you can’t guess…
Papua New Guinea!!
I have wanted to go to Papua New Guinea for such a long time. I am intrigued by the culture and wildlife in this country. However I never felt it was a very safe option for a solo female traveller (whether that is true or not, it is my opinion), so I never thought it would ever eventuate. But then P&O opened a new cruise route through the islands of PNG and I booked my passage. For two weeks in February, Jake and I, and two of my girlfriends will sail through PNG and discover as much of the culture and landscape as you can from a cruise ship.
Goal #2 : Explore another country in Asia
There isn’t a lot that is “close” to Australia. The closest thing to a next door to explore would be Asia. I have seen much of South East Asia but one place always high on my list has been the Philippines. I grabbed an amazing seat sale and plan to spend two weeks here in October of 2016.
Goal #3 : Hobart attempt 2
We were supposed to spend Christmas in Hobart this year. Tasmania is the only state in Australia that I have not visited. I was really excited. But apparently the flight got moved to a different time (earlier) and I never received the notification email… so needless to say… we didn’t make the flight. Thankfully the airline agreed to refund us even though it was a non refundable ticket, so it didn’t hurt as badly as it could have.
But now I have unfinished business with Hobart.
Perhaps for a 30th birthday getaway?
What are you goals for 2016? Let me know in the comments!!!
