Granada is a charming city in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It is one of the most visited places in Spain as it is home to the astonishing Alhambra, a palace complex and gardens that was originally constructed in the 13th century. Over the next few hundred years it went through a series of changes as variouskings put their stamp on it. Sitiing atop a hill, this vast and elegant structure is simply a must-see. Granada’s Old Quarter, Albaicin, is an enthralling tangle of narrow streets and eccentric old buildings that is also worth visiting once you have wondered down from the Alhambra.
