The year is coming to an end and it’s time to think about whether or not we achieved our goals for the year, and make new goals for the year ahead. So let’s start with reflection time. How did we do on our 2017 travel goals?
Goal 1: Something Asian
Check! This one we definitely did with a two week trip to Singapore and Japan over Easter. I booked this trip on a whim when I found an extremely cheap flight to Singapore. I booked the Singapore leg of the trip, and then we spent some time brainstorming where to go next. Singapore is an Asian hub, so getting anywhere from there is easy. In the end we settled on Japan – somewhere that was very high on both of our bucket lists. We ended up having only 8 days in Japan so we only spent 4 days in each Tokyo and Kyoto which is definitely not enough time to see either place. I guess we will have to revisit it.
Goal 2: Something Pacific
Check! At first I was thinking, well I guess we didn’t achieve this one but actually I’m wrong. Tomorrow we are flying to Easter Island! (I am writing this a few days before it is being posted, so we should already be there), Easter Island has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. In fact, I remember looking through my moms stacks of old National Geographics when I was a kid and falling in love with all these exotic places – and Easter Island was one of them. I can’t believe that soon I will be exploring this incredible island.
Goal 3: Something Further Afield
Check! We had baby number 2 in late August, and in early November we set off on our epic maternity leave holiday. We will be spending 5.5 months in South America and 2 months in North America. We flew into Buenos Aires in November and so far we have visited Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile. That definitely counts as something further afield!
And I guess that also means that we achieved…
Goal 4: Something Epic
Let the epic adventures begin!
