One of the best places to see the city of Brisbane is from Mount Coot-tha, a large hill overlooking the city. Mount Coot-tha is in itself a charming day trip, or evening destination – with a cafe and restaurant at the top. But for those who make the trek in the early morning hours before the sunrise, Mount Coot-tha does not disappoint.
It rained during the night. I thought there wouldn’t be much hope for a decent sunrise. But the rain created such one in a kind conditions – a thick fog which hovered above the city – only allowing the tops of the tallest buildings to peak through. From the peak of Mount Coot-tha we were met with a spectacular view, as the warm morning sun reflected off the top of the fog, while the wind crashed waves of cloud into the high rises like rocks in the sea.
