James and I have been dating for two months now. Our relationship has progressed pretty quickly – he moved in with me almost immediately. Although I did share custody of James with our mutual friend Reece, so I got a break every once in a while.
However, after two months it is now time to meet the family.
James has relatives in Blenheim, the centre of the Marlborough wine region – the land of New Zealand’s famous sauvignon blanc.
We came to Blenheim Friday early evening and stayed until Monday morning. James’ relatives, Alasdair and Ange and their four children were extremely welcoming and hospitable and we were very grateful for a real bed and delicious home cooked meals for a weekend.
On Saturday, Alasdair drove us around on a custom made wine tour. We went to the big names – Montana, Oyster Bay and Grove Mill, as will as some more locally known favourites such as Hunters. Honestly, I can’t remember how many vineyards we went to – this has probably something to do with not using the spittoon.
But come on now – who does?
By the end of the tour we were tipsy and tired and had splurged on some nice bottles direct from the vineyard. What’s the best way to work off some wine?
