Christmas, Valentines Day, birthdays…. there are so many occasions throughout the year where social convention calls for gifts. But what do you get for the world traveler on your list? World travelers are picky about their possessions – they might only have a storage closest, or a backpack where they keep their lifes possessions. So what do you get for a world traveler?
We have recently come across a few great ideas that are sure to impress the discerning traveler on your gift list.
Give an experience
The whole giving an experience thing isn’t new. But most experience voucher websites are specific to a certain country or region. It can be hard to find a suitable experience that will be valid when your favourite world traveler is in the area. Introducing Tinggly. Tinggly allows you to give the gift of an experience, except the experiences are available in over 100 countries around the world. You also have two years to use your experience, which is double the time allowed by most other experience websites.
Some of our good friends (and talented photographer) are off to South America on a grande adventure, so this was the perfect Christmas gift for them. We have them a gift of the essential Tinggly gift experience. Now they can cruise on Iguassu falls, fly over the Nazca lines, or tango in Argentina…. it’s up to them. And if they don’t use it in South America… well there are lots of other options all over the world.
The gift of fashion
You want to look good in your holiday snaps right? But you can’t really carry an entire wardrobe. But luckily, most of your holiday snaps are going to focus on your smiling adventure filled face, so why not decorate it with a pair of rocking sunnies. Nice sunglasses are a great gift for the travel lover as they don’t take up space, they match everything, and a great pair can add a bit of style to even the drabbest of backpacking outfits.
I recently got a pair from the Australian Getglasses website. The site sells heavily discounted designer sunglasses, so for the first time ever I was able to get a great pair of sunnies. Now I can protect my eyes AND add a little class to my holiday instagrams!
The gift of scent
Do you travel with perfume? Did it end badly? Leaked on your luggage? Got confiscated by airport security? Lost in a hostel? Introducing My Aroamas… the solid perfume stick. The motto “no spills, no leaks, no worries” is absolutely correct. My friend Brooke from Her Packing List designs, makes and sells aroamas and they have quickly become one of my favourite additions to my backpack. The perfume sticks are made with clean, simple ingredients, perfect for those with sensitive skin. My first impression was just how long lasting and intense the perfume was, for a solid perfume stick this one lasts an incredibly long time. Best of all, the sticks are small and weightless. I keep one in my purse at all times.
The gift of beauty
I’ll let you in on a secret. I’m not in my early twenties anymore. I won’t tell you my age but I will say that I have a goal of visiting 50 countries before I am 30, and it’s getting down to the wire. I used to just use plain old hand soap to wash my face, but now that isn’t really a great option. But buying good quality facial products are expensive and confusing. What works? What doesn’t work? Who knows. But it’s expensive so it must be good right?
Well recently I discovered Oz Naturals, a skin care company using natural and organic ingredients for ageless skin, but without the massive price tag. When I am at home I use the serum to help my moisturizer really penetrate my skin, but since it is liquid I am a little too paranoid to travel with it. However I never leave home without a good cleanser and the super youth eye gel.
