This year, over the holiday period we decided to road trip in our previous home state of Queensland. A few years ago I traveled up the coast of Queensland by bus, but I didn’t have many opportunities to stop at some of the more off the beaten track stops. This time was different. We flew up to Rockhampton, grabbed a one way car rental and headed back down to Brisbane. You can read all about our incredible road trip here.
Below are 15 of our favourite photos from our five day road trip.

The Tannun Sands beach near Gladstone is a great place to stop for a rest from driving.
We slightly detoured from our coastal route to go inland from Rockhampton. There we were able to dig up some Thunder Eggs. When cut in half, they reveal the beautiful crystals within.
The almost kilometre long pier in Hervey Bay is one of the towns major landmarks and tourist attractions.
We were in the right place at the right time when we stopped in Bundaburg. We were able to join a ranger guided tour and see this incredible loggerhead turtle come up on the beach to lay her eggs.
The white sands of Fraser Island are something not to be missed.
By the time the sun was setting, most of the tourists and fisherman had gone for dinner and drinks, so we were able to capture this photo.
I had never seen soldier crabs before, so this army of them in the town of 1770 was really awe inspiring.

You can see the sun set over the beach in the reflection of the water drop.
