Cambodia, a small country in South East Asia with a turbulent past. It is one of my favourite countries to visit in South East Asia. Below are my ten favourite photos from my week long trip in 2008.
Our Favourite Images of Cambodia
Although Cambodia is recovering from it’s tragic past, there are still plenty of remnants around the country to remind you of the cost of dictatorship and war. Land mines are a fact of life for many local people in Cambodia, and it is usually the rural farmers, trying to make a living from the land that are worst affected.
While land mines are still an issue in Cambodia, you shouldn’t need to worry about your own safety if you are staying to the main towns, cities, and tourist attractions.
Images of Phnom Phen
Phnom Phen is where you will likely start your journey in Cambodia. The city is worth spending a couple days in, and there is lots of explore. The below photos are from the Royal Palace, as I didn’t take any photos at any of the attractions related to the Cambodia genocide.
Images of Angkor
Angkor Wat is the most famous place in Cambodia, and attracts visitors from all over the world. The ancient civilization of Angkor was one of the most powerful in the region, and the ruins of their extensive temples cover a huge region near the town of Siem Riep.
Below are some of my favourite photos from my visit in 2008. I would love to go back now that we have a much better camera and more photography skills.
